5 Experiences

Hey guys,

Today’s post is going to be a list of 5 of the things I most want to achieve whilst at college – some stereotypical experiences I hope to have.

1. Go to a football game

Who would have guessed it! If you thought I’d talked enough already about going to football games while at college, you’re very wrong (it’s going to continue, so buckle up). This one is sure to be achieved given that Ole Miss has 7 home games this season, and I’ve already bought tickets to one of them. An easy one, but definitely one that I want ticked off.

2. Go to a frat/sorority party

According to some people I’ve spoken with, this should be a pretty easy one to achieve. Whilst fraternities and sororities have their own exclusive events for chapter members only, they regularly hold open-house parties where those who aren’t even a part of any Greek life can go. I hope they’re as wild as they seem in movies and online. Keg stands, beer pong, hundreds of people, shirtless jocks, tonnes of red cups, maybe a DJ – the whole shebang. This one will definitely throw me back to being 16/17 and the thrill of drinking underage (since I’m not 21 until November), except on steroids. I’ll take the experience Project X style, thanks.

3. Go on a road trip

My hopes with this one is that some friends and I might road trip for a weekend away, somewhere during a break period, or maybe even for an away football match. Whatever the occasion, I’d love to take a trip with some friends and visit a new place! I’m always up for an adventure. Fingers crossed I make friends with someone who owns a car. (Tumblr pic inserted below for ~goals~).

4. Celebrate Thanksgiving

The absolute goal would be to make friends with an American whose family owns a lake house a couple hours’ drive away and a group of us go and drink and celebrate the weekend away. Or crash a friends’ family dinner where there’s a massive feast (featuring a big ass turkey, of course) (I’m not even that much of a fan of turkey, but I feel like there’s got to be one). Alternately, a road trip with a group to Mississippi State University for the Egg Bowl football tournament. A girl can dream, but I just hope I get to do something and experience some kind of Thanksgiving spirit. I love the concept of taking a day to reflect on everything we’re thankful for (and an excuse to drink a lot of booze).

5. Do something for Halloween

In my life, I’ve only ever celebrated Halloween once. I dressed up and went trick or treating, but I think I only managed to get treats from about 5 houses, just because no one else in the area was even offering (and I was in a nice neighbourhood). My family and I find it quite ridiculous that its celebrated in Australia, it just doesn’t feel right, and every year we put up a sign on our door telling people to go away. However, I’m 100% up for celebrating it in the place where they go off chops with it. Dressing up, trick or treating, going to a party – I’ll take whatever full-blown Halloween experience I can get. I’ll even go to a haunted house for shits and gigs.

These are just a few of the cliché experiences I most want to experience while I’m over there. Funnily enough they don’t really have much to do with college itself (lol). Hopefully by the end of my college experience I’ll be able to say that I completed all of these!

Until next time!
